A cute little japanese knot bag made using vintage textiles with a red gingham cotton lining.
This quaint little bag has been made using a beautiful textured french metis sheet (linen and cotton mix) and decorated with an applique of vintage and antique textiles....and the odd mother of pearl button. The stitches are naive and visible on purpose....adding to the heirloom feel of the little bag being an old treasure passed down from generation to generation.
Love and consideration goes into every element I use in making the bag, from the fragments of vintage quilts to the linen lining and french vintage sheet. I often wonder about the history of these beautiful textiles and their stories. I'd like to think of that sheet flapping in the breeze on a washing line beside an old french farmhouse. It would have been a valuble, much loved quality item and would have been cared for and repaired over the years.
As is the style of a japanese knot bag the longer handle slips through the shorter one then is put over the wrist...leaving both hands for for tea and cake......it's the perfect little bag for a summer soiree or garden party. Or you could pop a jam jar in it with a few blooms or a little plant if you protect the inner fabric.
This one of a kind handmade bag comes with a single spindly toadstool and is just the place for your treasures and keepsakes.
The little bag measures approx 12cm by 12cm (not including the handles) with a 5cm gussett.
The french metis sheet is laundered but as with vintage and antique textiles marks due to age and wear and tear may be present as they cannot always be removed by washing, this is normal and part of its history and not a fault. This is not a pristine item made from new textiles.

*shipping/postage fees....I am trying to perfect this part of the process to offer you the best deal but to also cover the cost of the order should items go astray in the postal system. Due to a substantial increase in shipping fees particularly to the United States as USPS have increased their prices I have unfortunately had to increase shipping fees as am unable to absorb these costs. Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions about this before buying, thank you.
