Mini Journal Y

A small journal carefully created from vintage and antique textiles, lace and trims.....with a seashore and ocean theme. 

The pages are embellished with old lace, embroidery, buttons and stamped images and text.  The journal has many pockets containing vintage ephemera such as pieces of book pages, tags, old letters, cigarette cards and postage stamps. You could also add your own special and sentimental treasures such as tiny photos and cinema tickets etc...as long as they are small.  Or stitch in a special button or two for safe keeping.

There are twelve pages including the cover, decorated on both sides, so twenty four individual sides.  I have shown a few of the pages here but you may find more images in the blog area.

The front of the journal is decorated with a tiny embroidered seashore image and embellished wth tiny vintage sequins, a Cornish seashell and a ceramic rock pool charm.  It ties closed with a sari silk ribbon and comes with a small handmade velvet toadstool.

The naive stitching and repaired and discoloured look is intentional and the linens and textiles have been tea dyed to give them more of an aged grungy look.  There are intentionally raw edges and frayed textiles to enhance the worn look.  The textiles are old and have many stories to tell of their history.

It is a tactile item, it feels lovely to hold and mindfully take time looking through, a beautiful item to own and display.

This journal measures approx 11cm by 8cm when closed....not including the dangly bits and roughly 5.5cm thick when tied....as some of the pages are padded.

It would make a beautiful and unusual gift for a friend or relative or lover of vintage textiles and handmade work.
