This medium sized pincushion is perfect for projects on the go or just for a sweet decoration.
Influenced by my love of my allotment and growing things it is made from a piece of tea dyed calico and an old bakery pie tin. It is stuffed with 100% pure british sheep wool and features two small hand dyed linen carrots along with embroidered blooms of cow parsley or achillea and corriander. A small safety pin is attached with a fragment of vintage lace and a vintage mother of pearl button.
The little tin itself is highly patinated, it shows the signs of its age and these tell the story of it's useful past life. I think this is important and have intentionally left it in this condition rather than polishing it, although it has been carefully cleaned. I imagine all the tasty treats that were once baked in it and the pleasure they must have brought. It would once have been a valuble and cherished item in the kitchen or bakery to which it belonged. There may be a smidge of surface rust remaining on some of the tins and so it shouldn't be kept in cold damp conditions or against lighter coloured fabrics.
The pincushion is approx 9cm in diameter by 7cm deep (inc carrots).

*shipping/postage fees....I am trying to perfect this part of the process to offer you the best deal but to also cover the cost of the order should items go astray in the postal system. Due to a substantial increase in shipping fees particularly to the United States as USPS have increased their prices I have unfortunately had to increase shipping fees as am unable to absorb these costs. Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions about this before buying, thank you
