Mixed Media Nature Journal Workshop - 23rd or 24th June 2023

A lovely day long workshop in the cabin where I will share with you my methods for creating a journal and show you how to create your own small mixed media journal/artists book from scratch.

You will learn how to make the pages and the cover from mainly vintage and antique materials and you will be embellishing the pages using different media.  We will be using old book pages, textiles, natural materials and found objects in our work.

You will be trying out different mediums such as gesso, gel medium, wax sealing, paints, rubber stamping onto fabric and inks to decorate you pages.  There will also be a small amount of stitching, very simple stitches and different ways of attaching things to our books.  There will be the opportunity to type your own wording using Dora and Gabriele....my vintage typewriters.

All materials are provided and will generally be of a 'nature' theme, such as pressed flowers, feathers and botanical rubber stamps.  However you are very welcome to bring along your own materials and treasures to add in or create a differnt theme for your book.  It may be that you don't finish every page in your book as creating a journal is a slow and mindful process but you will have prepared everything to a stage when any finishing off can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace at home.

This workshop will run from 10am until approx 4pm-ish and you will need to bring a packed lunch.  All other refreshments will be provided.
